Liberty Village just grows more and more every minute, as this Monday, October 31st, we're going to be able to see Liberty Village's Bike Here! program launch twelve new bicycle racks, and three clusters of secure storage lockers, to make this neighbourhood friendlier to cyclists!
The bicycle is an integral part of Toronto life, and thinking of life in Toronto without it is like thinking of the skyline without the CN tower, or the 93 Jays without Paul Molitor. Just not right. With that being said, it's great to see steps being made to ensure Liberty remains a cycle-friendly zone, where pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers can all share the road with respect.
The twelve new bicycle racks aren't the old fashioned ones you might be used to, but artist designed pieces, reflecting the creative spirit of the community. The designs were submitted late last year to the Bike Here! Committee, and those designs are featured on the central panels of the new racks.
Each of the twelve racks is a beautiful combination of form and function that both allow the cyclists to admire local artists, while granting reliable, safe storage space. In addition, the three bicycle storage lockers will give cyclists who really prize their rides, an extra level of security and convenience. Safer than a rack, and easier than keeping them in your office, these bicycle lockers will be available for monthly rent for a nominal fee from the LVBIA.
Liberty Village is a neighbourhood on the grow, and the inclusion of these new bicycle facilities for both residents and commuters working in the neighbourhood is proof enough of the Liberty's community's commitment to this growth.
The new bicycle racks will see an unveiling on Monday October 31st, at 9:30AM, at the corner of Liberty St. and Fraser Ave.
